En Red Canaria Laboratorios we have created a very broad profile by joining the profiles ETS Essential Network and ETS Tranquility Network where it is detected by PCR HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and by serology AC.IGG.ANTI-TREPONEMA PALLIDUM (FTA), AC.IGM ANTI-TREPONEMA PALLIDUM in blood sample and Neisseria Gonorrhoaea, Chlamydia Trachimatis, Trichomona Vaginales, Ureaplasma Urealyticum, Ureaplasma Parvum, Mycoplasma Genitalium and Mycoplasma Hominis also by molecular biology.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises having these tests annually for those at high risk of infection.
PATIENT CONDITIONS AND COLLECTION OF SAMPLES
Samples must be taken before starting antimicrobial treatment. Also that the use of antiseptics or lubricants should be avoided since they can inhibit the growth of some microorganisms.
The material that will be used for sample collection, except biopsies, is provided by the laboratory.
- There's no need FAST
- MAN: blood sample plus any of the following samples.
- Urine.
- Urethral discharge.
- Pharyngeal exudate.
- Rectal discharge.
- Ulcers.
- Biopsy.
- WOMAN: blood sample plus any of the following samples.
- Urine
- Vaginal discharge
- Endocervical exudate.
- Urethral discharge.
- Pharyngeal exudate.
- Rectal discharge.
- Ulcers.
- Biopsy.
Urine sample:
- Use a specific sterile container for urine collection,
- It is not recommended to wash the area before sampling.
- It is recommended not to be under antibiotic treatment at the time of sampling.
- Collect the first urine of the morning (first portion); Make sure clothing and genitals do not directly touch the glass to avoid contamination.
- Close the bottle, and if you have a tube, fill it up and make sure that no spillage occurs.
Vaginal, endocervical, urethral, pharyngeal, rectal discharge, ulcer, or biopsy:
- Our recommendation is that the endocervical, urethral, rectal or biopsy sample is taken by a specialist and then delivered to the laboratory.
- Vaginal, pharyngeal or ulcer exudate we will take the sample in the laboratory itself.
